Agricultural BMPs

In order to meet the strict bacteria reductions in the Looney Creek waters, streamside fencing is required to exclude cattle from the stream. This will eliminate direct livestock defecation in the stream and prevent the trampling of the stream banks. Below is a picture of a calf not excluded from the stream and the resulting muddy, trampled stream bank.      

                         

 

 

Eligible Practices 

 

 There are specific BMPs eligible under the TMDL Implementation Cost Share Program depending upon what type of impairment(s) a project area has.

Cost Share payments will vary depending upon the type of project being completed. Cost Share rates can vary from 50% up to 85% of  the cost of a project.
