Johns Creek Dams

The Johns Creek Flood Control Dams were built in the late 1960’s by the U.S.

Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the

purpose of protecting agricultural land in the Johns Creek Valley. The Mountain Castles

Soil & Water Conservation District and Craig County both signed the Watershed

Agreements and the Operation & Maintenance Agreements for the dams, making them co

-sponsors of the structures.  There are four dams that Mountain Castles SWCD maintain in Craig County.
